Seaside Bike Ride and Lunch Near Cinque Terra Italy

You hear about the 5 villages of Cinque Terra. They consist of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.  On our last trip to Italy, We decided to explore beyond these 5 villages.

When planning our trip I discovered  a  6 mile round trip seaside promenade thru old train tunnels located along the Ligurian sea.  I decided this was a must to explore, and hadn’t heard of it before or talked to anyone who had done this.  Here is how we experienced this day trip from Vernazza.  Vernazza was our home base location while exploring Cinque Terra and beyond.

We took the train from Vernazza to Levanto.  This is about a 10 minute train ride. From the train station we walked into Levanto and rented bicycles at Sensafreni Bike Shop.  I had the rental arranged ahead of time. They have a Facebook page. From the bike shop we made our way to the promenade and rode our bicycles to Bonasolla Italy (about 1.5 miles).  We then rode on to Frammura Italy (another 1.5 miles)  We parked our bicycles and walked thru the village of Frammura. Frammura is made of five medieval hamlets A hamlet is a small settlement, There’s not a lot there but it was a beautiful little hike up the hillside.  From there we rode back to Bonasolla where we had lunch outside at Caffe dell Rose.  Here you will find a review and more photos on Trip Advisor

After lunch we rode back to Levanto, had ice cream around the square and returned our bikes.
